Award winning designer-maker Selina Rose creates intricately cut felt homewares and bespoke interior surfaces. Her innovative felt surfaces are suitable for a broad range of applications including rugs, window treatments, acoustic paneling, room dividers, table runners, wall decals, cushions, lighting and upholstery.
Her signature style of eye popping bright colours and bold, nature inspired patterns along with her strong eco credentials has won the attention of several high profile clients including Arup, Eco Age and Heals.
2009 was a fantastic year for Selina with her exclusive range for Heals launching in February and her follow up Autumn/Winter 09 collection now available in store. Other highlights include her recent commission for global design and engineering firm Arup's new London headquarters in Fitzoria, London, for which she has created over 120 bespoke acoustic felt panels and room dividers and in April her Bloom and Botanica designs were shortlisted for the Grand Designs Awards.
Since graduating in 2005 Selina has built up a large portfolio of products and commissions and has received funding and awards from The Arts Council, Craft Central and The Surtex International Design Competition. She has designed or leading high street retailers, is a visiting lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire and consults on local design issues for her local council, promoting design talent in her region.
Selina's love affair with felt began at University where she used to hand cut the designs, over the past 4 years she has worked with UK manufacturers and using funding from the Arts Council has developed and perfected a cutting process using state of the art cutting technology to create her unique range of products.
Selina products have strong eco credentials, all products are made from 100% wool felt and coloured using environmentally friendly dyes. Selina makes all of her products in the UK and the felt is biodegradable and sustainable. Her unique style, love of felt and use of innovative technology has enabled her carve out a niche in the international design scene.
