I have been designing and making furniture since 2005. I work for a variety of clients, both private and public, creating bespoke freestanding and fitted pieces, as well as short product runs of my own pieces.
I have a growing reputation as a designer. I was selected to exhibit alongside 19 top furniture makers at the Houses of Parliament in 2008 and have been selected for Origin, the prestigious London Craft Show, for three successive years. In 2009, benches I designed and made for the Graves Gallery in Sheffield won a Wood Award.
My pieces are strikingly elegant with fine and subtle detailing. I take great care resolving my designs, focusing on proportion, line and how light plays on every surface, giving each piece a distinctive identity. Comfort and functionality are also key aspects of my designs as I firmly believe furniture should be enjoyable to use as well as beautiful.
I have worked in creative fields all my life. I came to furniture design after working as a stage builder and prop maker in London theatres (including an apprenticeship at English National Opera) followed by a successful career in product and automotive design as a digital modeler. I draw on all the skills developed in these areas, such as how the effect of light can be used and how to resolve complex design problems, in my furniture.
